Our History

As Michigan's oldest privately owned book and journal manufacturer, Edwards Brothers was founded in Ann Arbor in 1893. A fourth generation family business, we take great pride in our long-term focus, proven history of innovation and high level of customer service. Our ultimate goal is to craft solutions that help publishers maximize Life of Title® revenue by printing the right quantity on the right press configuration at the right time. This objective is shared by EB Journal Services.

Edwards Brothers operates four manufacturing facilities strategically located to serve key markets. Among them: our Ann Arbor, Michigan corporate headquarters; a journal-oriented softbound plant and university press-focused casebound plant in Lillington, North Carolina; and, an ultra-short run plant in Hutchinson, Kansas.

In addition to conventional production, Edwards Brothers has developed customized printing solutions to meet the unique challenges of several customers. These include remote digital printing operations in the warehouses of Rowman and Littlefield, The University of Chicago Press, the National Academies Press and an overseas location in the United Kingdom in partnership with the National Book Network. We also offer digital based journal solutions to Springer Science Publishing and Information Age.

Throughout our history, Edwards Brothers has built an outstanding reputation as a preferred short-to-medium run journal manufacturer serving the needs of the scientific, technical, mathematical, professional and library markets. Our growing client base includes scholarly and professional organizations such as The University of Chicago Press, American Bar Association, American Accounting Association, Sage Publications and Springer Science Publishing. Today, EB Journal Services produces more than 165 scholarly publications.
